Description
Benzastatin I is produced by the strain of Streptomyces nitrosþoreas 30643. H and I can protect nerve cells from glutamate toxicity with EC50 of 30.3 and 31.6 μmol/L, which is similar to ldebenone, but its cytotoxicity (lC50 > 200 μmol/L) is much lower than that of lC50 4.0 μmol/L.
