Description
It is produced by the strain of Semisynthetic second generation cephalosporin for injection. Ceforanide is a beta-lactam, broad-spectrum antibiotic. It has bactericidal activity and is used in the sterilization in various medical procedures. It causes inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by inactivating penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) thereby interfering with the final transpeptidation step required for cross-linking of peptidoglycan units which are a component of the cell wall. It has a longer elimination half-life than any currently available cephalosporin.
